I first met Dakota years ago when I photographed his brother’s wedding, so walking into this one already felt familiar. There’s something special about being invited back into a family like that — it immediately shifts the energy. It doesn’t feel transactional. It feels trusted.
Catheryn & Dakota’s day felt easy from the start. During their first look, they didn’t rush into anything — they just stood there for a minute and hung out, which honestly set the tone for the whole wedding. It was a hazy, sunny fall day, and the light moving through Emerald Union gave everything this natural moodiness without feeling heavy. Dakota’s laid-back, funny energy (we were passing his weed pen around in the bridal suite) kept the room relaxed, and Catheryn matched that calm in her own steady way. Nothing felt forced. Just the right mix of ease, texture, and presence
Emerald Union really fits that kind of energy. The space is clean and modern, but it doesn’t feel cold. As the day moved into evening, the light softened and this natural haze settled into the room. It created depth without trying too hard — just warm tones, layered light, and a space that let the people in it stand out.
Emerald Union continues to be a strong Nashville wedding venue for couples who want something modern but still intimate. If you’re planning a wedding there and care about how your day feels just as much as how it looks, I’d love to connect
